Making Time

I am delighted to announce that Pat Saizan Fine Art & Photography has a new website! This new website is easier to navigate and has some new offerings. In addition to selling prints of my artwork, I have also added textures for photo artists and photographers. There are also three free tutorial videos for advanced Photoshop users. Be sure to check back for more artwork and content for photo artists and photographers.

One of the questions I get asked over and over again is how I make time to create art. My answer is simple. Block time each day to create. For me, I set the alarm on my iPhone telling me when it is time to develop and when it is time to take a break. The first alarm goes off at 8 am Monday - Friday alerting me it is “time to create.” I sit down and start to create. Sometimes I have a project in my mind and go right into it. Other times I have no clue what I am going to create. Either way I sit down and open my computer, set a blank canvas and start putting photos or digital paint on that canvas. At 8:50 am my alarm goes off and tells me “break time.” I get up and get another cup of coffee and walk around a bit to stretch my lets. At 9 am the alarm goes off and tells me “time to create.” I sit down and keep working on whatever I was working on my project. I do have the luxury of repeating this cycle right up until noon.

If you are having a hard time finding time to create I highly recommend scheduling the time and setting the alarm to do so. Set a goal, even if you only have 20 minutes once a week to schedule your creative time. Each little bit of time will add up and improve your creative mind.
